Employee Relations Officer  – Cape Town, South Africa

TTEC, the customer experience organization that powers the world's greatest brands, is hiring an Employee Relations Officer in Cape Town South Africa, ideally with a background in Employee Relations / HR in local BPO Operations.  You will join the mission of transforming customer experience and bringing humanity to business

What you’ll be doing:

As the Employee Relations Officer for TTEC South Africa, you will serve as a strategic ER partner to business leaders within South Africa.  You will chair disciplinary and appeal hearings whilst managing complex relations casework.

The duties and responsibilities of the Employee Relations Officer will include, but not limited to:
•    Manage complex employee relations casework
•    Chair disciplinary and appeal hearings, reviewing evidence, leading discussions, and making impartial, fair decisions on whether allegations are proven and what disciplinary sanctions are appropriate. 
•    Advise management on employment law and company policies, ensuring practices are legally compliant and aligned with company values. 
•    Provide guidance and training to managers on effective people management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures. 
•    Prepare ER reports, highlighting key themes, risks, and recommendations.
•    Track and analyze ER data to support proactive interventions.

What skills you need:

•    Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Law, or related field.
•    5 years’ experience in HR or Employee Relations, with exposure to grievance and disciplinary processes.
•    Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret evidence to make sound judgments. 
•    Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and regulations in South Africa. 
•    Ability to make difficult, informed decisions regarding disciplinary actions. 
•    Strong skills in mediation, conflict resolution, and building positive working relationships. 
•    Previous experience within a BPO environment is required.
•    The role requires flexibility to work in a rotational/shift schedule on site in Cape Town.
