Power BI Automation
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Power BI Automation Engineer with strong experience in both Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service (Cloud). The ideal candidate will design, develop, automate, and maintain scalable BI solutions while ensuring data accuracy, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop.
- Manage and automate workflows in Power BI Service (Cloud) including dataset refreshes, gateways, and workspace management.
- Implement Power BI automation using REST APIs, PowerShell, or scripting tools.
- Develop and optimize DAX measures and calculated columns for performance and scalability.
- Build and maintain data models from multiple data sources (SQL, Excel, APIs, Azure sources, etc.).
- Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot automated refreshes and report deployments.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage access control.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
- Ensure best practices in Power BI development, version control, and documentation.
- Support production issues and perform performance tuning.
Mandatory Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI
- Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
- Proven experience with Power BI Automation
- Strong knowledge of DAX and Power Query (M Language)
- Experience with SQL and relational databases
- Experience with data refresh automation, gateways, and deployment pipelines
Good to Have
- Experience with Power BI REST APIs / PowerShell scripting
- Knowledge of Azure services (Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse)
- Experience with CI/CD for Power BI
- Exposure to Python or R for data processing
- Understanding of data governance and security best practices
